VISIT JANDERCLASSIC.COM to Register for the Jander Classic Golf Tournament the last Friday in July each Summer
Please support the Jander Classic Golf Tournament, it is the Give 60 for #60's Only Fundraiser each year
The Jander Classic funds all of the Give 60 for4 #60's efforts over the course of the year, including, but not limited to:
1) The Jake Anderson Leadership Symposium at the Orono High School each spring for 9-12th Grade Students. The Anderson's & Give60 hand select inspirational speakers for their compelling delivery styles and engaging presentations, which wonderfully mirror the Pillars of Character which are so firmly rooted in the ethos of the Orono School District & community.
Now more than ever, it seems like these events can have an even greater impact. Today’s high school students need a different kind of support after living through a global pandemic and other crises that have no doubt drained their mental and emotional wellbeing. We hear it every day: the collective trauma is real. When large assemblies of young people have been impossible for so long, having an opportunity to bring everyone together to ponder important themes can do so much good.
Help Us Help Our Village - Donate to Give60 and support these types of initiatives.
2) The Jake Anderson Legacy Scholarship is awarded each spring during scholarship night to one high school senior who embodies the character the Give60 Foundation embraces, and character traits that emulate Jake's core being - leading by example on and off the field - kindness, leadership, sportsmanship, and character.
3) OHS #60 Lacrosse Jersey Leadership Awards + Booster Donations for nets, pinnies, and other program needs. As referenced earlier on the site, Jake's team mates chose to NOT retire his Jersey and instead bestow it upon the Team Leader each spring for both the boys and girls Varsity LAX teams.
There are only 2 number 60's in the entire Orono Lacrosse Program. One on the Men and one on the Women's Varsity Lacrosse Teams. The number 60 has been removed from the youth lineup and JV.
The players who wear this number have earned it by demonstrating Leadership, Kindness, Servitude, & Sportsmanship - qualities that epitomize the #60 Award! When you see the Orono Number 60, you know they earned it!
